Chaises en rotin C H A R L E S T O N recyclées noir et blanc chevrons
Une paire de chaises que j'ai trouvées, qui étaient parties pour 
les encombrants. 
Ce sont de très belles chaises avec une structure en bambou, 
et le cannage en rotin. Il n'est pas en plastique, c'était du 
rotin naturel. 
Du fait de leur âge, le rotin a raidi et cassé par endroits,
notamment sur l'assise (alors que les dossiers étaient restés parfaits). 

Du coup, j'ai du réparer les assises pour combler les trous. 
Puis, je les ai peintes avec une peinture noire d'extérieur 
et blanche acrylique. Elles ont aussi reçu plusieurs couches 
d'une lasure anti-UV protectrice et anti-humidité. 
 
Le rotin n'est désormais plus respirant comme du rotin naturel, 
cependant je pense qu'elles sont reparties pour une dizaine 
d'années en intérieur, et en terrasse peut-être un peu moins en 
fonction des agressions (pluies, changement de température etc).

  • A pair of chairs I found in the streets, they 
    were going to be taken for destruction. 

    These are very pretty light chairs with 
    a bamboo structure, and the seat and back 
    are made of rattan. This is not plastic weaving 
    imitating rattan, but the real thing. 

    Because of their ageing, the rattan became 
    stiff and broke on some places, especially 
    on the seats, whereas the backs stayed 
    quite well preserved. So I had to repair the 
    seats to fill the holes. 

    Then, I painted them with a very resistant 
    exterior acrylic black paint, and some white 
    acrylic paint. They also received several layers 
    of anti-UV and waterproof varnish. 

    The rattan is no longer a breathing material; 
    like natural rattan. However I think they can 
    last a good 10 years more inside a house, and 
    maybe a little less on a porch or terrace, 
    according to the weather aggressions (very hot 
    temperatures, very cold, rain, humidity etc.)
